The Thames Consortium is inviting Expressions of Interest from potential co-supervisors of AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnership awards (CDPs) starting in the academic year 2017-18.

The Thames Consortium consists of the National Maritime Museum, the National Archives and the National Portrait Gallery.

Three CDP studentships will be available in partnership with the Thames Consortium starting in October 2017, subject to confirmation by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

Through its CDPs, the Thames Consortium aims to:

·        deliver excellent research that benefits students and the academic community and supports the strategic objectives of the organisations in the Consortium.

·        encourage inter- and cross-disciplinary research in the arts and humanities and promote integrated access to the collections of its members  i.e. NMM, TNA or NPG.

·        share expertise and communicate research outputs, linking research to public engagement.

·        support partnership working, both within the Consortium itself and between the heritage and academic sectors.

·        help students develop experience and skills that will benefit their future careers.

For 2017-18, The Thames Consortium is encouraging Expressions of Interest for CDPs that are interdisciplinary or could be undertaken in partnership with more than one organization in the Consortium.

How to make an Expression of Interest (EoI)

You should then complete an expression of interest form and send to one of the email addresses in the guidance by Wednesday 14 September 2016. The Thames Consortium will sift these EoIs and then invite (in early October) a selected number to develop the proposals into a full application form (by end of November).

To complete the EoI form, you will need to be a member of academic staff at a Research Organisation directly supported by the UK research funding councils.

NB. The form is for potential supervisors, not for students.  Students cannot apply for the scheme at this stage. Students who are interested in a CDP studentship and are seeking more information on the scheme should consult theAHRC-CDP consortium website.
