A teaching conference for AS and A Level teachers hosted by Middlesex University and the Poetic and Linguistics Association

Do you teach AS or A Level English? Are you looking for ways to resource and teach AS and A Level specifications? Do you want to refresh and enhance your teaching skills? Do you want to develop your practice of thinking and teaching students about language, literature and writing? Do you want to share methods with other teachers, and access support and resources?

Middlesex University and the Poetic and Linguistics Association (PALA) would like to invite you to this free teaching conference at the University’s Hendon Campus.

Programme

Interactive seminars run by experienced academics who are also resource developers for leading awarding bodies:

  • Pragmatics, speaking and writing – Billy Clark, Middlesex University
  • Making connections in the NEA: thinking outside the box – Andrea Macrae, Oxford Brookes University
  • Representing characters, events and places – Marcello Giovanelli, University of Nottingham

Speakers

There will be sessions by expert speakers on:

  • Text worlds – Dr Joanna Gavins, University of Sheffield
  • A window to another world: metaphors in the classroom – Dr Chloe Harrison, Coventry University
  • Mind style and point of view – Dr Marina Lambrou, Kingston University
  • Integrating Creative Writing and English Language – Dr Jeremy Scott,  University of Kent

The symposium also includes resource development workshops, facilitated by teachers and lecturers, for sharing ideas and generating class materials.

This is a free event, including lunch and refreshments. As accommodation is not included, please email Billy Clark at Middlesex University for advice on accommodation in the area.
