Print Title: Faces of a Revolution #7: Safeya's Tears Safeya Sayed Shedeed, the mother of a protester who died after being shot by police officers on January 28, 2011 (a day locals dubbed the "Friday of Rage"), cries as she waits to hear the result of a sentencing trial for former president Hosni Mubarak and former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly who are being tried on charges of corruption and giving orders to kill protesters. ÒI want to avenge my son,Ó she said. ÒWho will get my sonÕs rights back?ÓThis festival explores the relationship between journalism and art. It looks at artists who incorporate aspects of journalism in their work and considers what journalists can learn from artists and their practice. At the heart of the event is a series of discussions focusing on journalistic experimentation and creativity, with guests including Paul Morley and Stack magazines, and a curated exhibition featuring work by UAL students alongside pieces from Peter Kennard, Cat Phillipps, Edmund Clark, Laura El-Tantawy, Jeremy Deller, Lewis Bush, and Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin.
