Multilingual Creativity: Performing and Visual Arts

Event Details

Date:
16th March, 2016
Time:
14.00-17.00
Venue:
60 Farringdon Road, Free Word Centre, London EC1R 3GA

Building on research commissioned by the Gulbenkian Foundation and the work of the Multilingual Creativity Advisory Committee based at the Free Word Centre, the Cultural Institute at King’s and Free Word Centre will host a series of events over the 2015-16 academic year which bring together schools, libraries, community organisations, academics and researchers, arts and cultural organisations, arts practitioners, funding bodies, the media and publishers. These events explore creative approaches to engaging with and promoting multilingual skills and will focus on forging key links, sharing knowledge and showcasing best practice in projects and training, as well as serve as a scoping exercise to identify further training needs across the sector.

We would like to hear from you if you have a research project to contribute or learning or practice to inform the discussions in this event series.

The workshop on 16 March will be focused on ‘Performing and Visual Arts’. How can visual and performing arts be used to support multilingual creativity? Come and experience some of the artistic approaches being developed to promote multilingual creativity, and discuss what your own work has to offer in this area.
