Royal Holloway collaborates with RAF Museum to launch online Cold War history course

The Department of History have launched a free online course in collaboration with the Royal Air Force (RAF) Museums, building upon the department’s notable achievements in engaging with a wide audience with their previous online courses examining Magna Carta and its legacy, and photography and film in the writing of history.

Making extensive use of archive material and exhibits from the RAF Museum, the six week course will introduce participants to some of the most significant events in the history of Britain and the RAF during the Cold War, from the immediate aftermath of World War II to their engagement in Britain’s defence of the Falkland Islands in the 1980s and Gulf War I in the early 1990s. It will also examine how the RAF’s changing role has been remembered and memorialised in public life.
