“Good architecture must be conceived, erected and burned in vain. The greatest architecture of all is the fireworks’: it perfectly shows the gratuitous consumption of pleasure.” Tschumi, Bernard
As part of Chelsea College of Arts 10 years at Millbank celebration, first year BA Interior and Spatial Design students will design, curate and install a fireworks celebration on the college’s Rootstein Hopkins Parade Ground.
The event will be inspired by rereading Bernard Tschumi’s ‘Fireworks 1974’ manifesto and event staged at the Architectural Association in London, through which he first explored ideas about the relationship between space and event and space and time.
