Janácek’s mysterious The Diary of One Who Disappeared tells the story of a village boy who runs away from home when he is seduced by a gypsy girl. The pastoral theme continues with Butterworth’s settings of A.E. Housman’s signature poems, and a selection of Britten’s folksong arrangements.
