Reader in Geography

Harriet’s research explores the geographies of diverse forms of creative practices, drawing together cultural, social and economic and political approaches. Her research includes work on questions of audiences and the evaluation of cultural value; work on the geographies of contemporary art including questions of place and participation, as well as thinking about the relations between research and creative practice and the place of artists in the academy. Key to Harriet’s research practice is collaboration and engagement with creative organizations, institutions and practitioners. She has produced research papers, cultural strategies, art works and exhibitions with a range of individuals and organisations including Institute for International Visual Arts, FurtherField, Arts Catalyst and the Royal Geographical Society (London) as well as Swiss Artists in Labs (Zurich, CH).

Harriet’s  research monograph “For Creative Geographies” was published by Routledge in 2014, and  was followed in 2015 by an edited collection “Geographical Aesthetics” (Ashgate, 2015) 2016 and 2017 will see the publication of “Creativity” (Routledge) and Geographies of Making (with Laura Price).

Harriet is a Reader in Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London.
