The World of Subtitling Today

Event Details

17th June, 2015
Oliver Thompson Lecture Theatre, City University London, Northampton Square, London EC1V 0HB
Free but booking essential

Today’s prevalence of audiovisual materials in communication exchanges has made of subtitling a daily experience for many of us and a well-established and prominent area of academic research. This talk aims at taking stock of the most significant milestones that have marked the evolution of subtitling to date, whilst also delving into a prospective discussion of potential changes.  The speaker, Jorge Díaz Cintas is the Director of the Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS) at University College London.
