Professor Peter Hennessy and Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles will be giving talks at The Runnymede International Literary Festival 2015. This year takes as its theme Magna Carta, which was sealed 800 years ago in Runnymede, and particularly its relevance in contemporary society. It begins on Monday 9 March with a programme of open lectures at the Egham campus.
Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles is the former British Ambassador to Israel, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan and Professor Peter Hennessy is Baron Hennessy of Nympsfield and Attlee Professor of Contemporary British History at Queen Mary, University of London.
The Runnymede International Literary Festival aims to encourage a love of literature within the community. Organised by Royal Holloway in association with the Runnymede Literary Association and Runnymede Borough Council, events include a programme of lectures and workshops on the Royal Holloway campus in Egham, a series of readings from Professional writers and Royal Holloway MA Creative Writing students and a ‘Creativity Day’ for local schoolchildren.
