As part of his campaign as Chair of Interior and Spatial Design at UAL entitled ‘Popular Culture and the Interior’, Professor Ben Kelly will be hosting a symposium at the ICA on the 14th March 2015. The symposium, ‘Interior Design: Dead or Alive’, will take stock of the ability of iconic interiors to effect and influence the direction of popular culture and the wider world.

The symposium considers the cultural significance of the subject and practice of interior design and, in order to expand our understanding of its significance, a range of speakers have been drawn from the widest set of perspectives and disciplines including: artists, designers, writers, business, media and cultural institutions.

Speakers and their subjects:
Michael Bracewell (Writer and Novelist) – The British Art School and the Interior
Fred Deakin (Chair in Interactive Digital Arts UAL) – The Digital Interior
Paul Gorman (Writer) – 430 Kings Road
