To welcome in the New Year and a new term, students and staff join forces to perform Stravinsky’s Petrushka, a work that revels in Russian folk music and superbly exploits the capabilities of the symphony orchestra, with bold, bright washes of sound. In Petruska, Stravinsky wrote a masterpiece, a tour de force, which would propel him forward to the Rite of Spring.
Side-by-Side concerts provide a wonderful opportunity to witness Trinity Laban teaching staff, all highly experienced orchestral musicians, playing alongside students, performing masterpieces of the orchestral repertoire. Don’t miss the two other Side by Side concerts this spring – see below.
