Chasing the line – the influence of Gerry Mulligan and the art of counterpoint
Fresh from their Southbank Centre performance at the EFG London Jazz Festival 2014, the Contemporary Jazz Ensemble, directed by Mark Lockheart, explores the art of melodic line and counterpoint by rediscovering the music of the Gerry Mulligan Concert Band from the early 1960s.
Trinity Laban’s Jazz Choir, directed by Pete Churchill, will open proceedings with an upbeat set of jazz, gospel and soul standards.
