Directed by Mark Lockheart, the Contemporary Jazz Ensemble returns to the Southbank Centre as part of the London Jazz Festival 2014, this year exploring the art of melodic line and counterpoint by rediscovering the music of the Gerry Mulligan Concert Band from the early 1960s.
Alongside the music of composer, arranger and baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan, a Trinity Laban jazz sextet performs new compositions by Trinity Laban students, continuing the exploration of melodic line and counterpoint in a refreshed and contemporary way.
