Enterprising local students will be given a head start in setting up their own businesses by a new hub launched at Middlesex University.
The Enterprise Development Hub will cater for would-be student entrepreneurs to develop business ideas and offers students, alumni and staff support to research, develop, start and make a success of their business.
Led by Middlesex University business expert Dr Simon Best, the Hub offers students workshops, one-to-one mentoring, networking opportunities, and a number of events including seminars by successful entrepreneurs to help give students a head start.
The Hub pools the resources of Middlesex academics with extensive experience in launching start-ups and running small businesses across the world.
At the launch a grant of £500 was awarded to Intensive Academic English student Nuttacha Withayakas from Thailand to help her develop her product idea of a bag which transforms into a dress.
Head of the Enterprise Development Hub Dr Simon Best said: “More and more of our students will be running their own businesses or working for small companies in the future – we want to make them better entrepreneurs, better employees and better consumers.
“Our aim is to help students to start up and run businesses, helping them get from an idea to something which is sustainable.”
