This seminar engages with the topics of body image and body anxiety in actor training. The presentations invite a deeper consideration of ‘surface’ practices undertaken by students as they negotiate their body and image, and examine teaching strategies on this topic from the perspective of Movement and Wardrobe staff.

Roanna Mitchell (University of Kent, Artistic Director for AnyBody UK/Endangered Bodies): The Myth of Surface: body anxiety in actor training
Debbie Green & Vanessa Ewan (RCSSD, Senior Lecturers – Movement): Body Image in actor training
Karin Schuck (RCSSD, Wardrobe Manager): Transformation through costume
