The Indigeneity in the Contemporary World Project in the Department of Drama & Theatre at Royal Holloway, University of London is pleased to present a practical workshop with Visiting Research Fellow, Peter Morin.

The workshop will focus on the importance of beadwork as a knowledge system for indigenous communities. Participants will learn some basic beadwork and construction techniques while Peter Morin draws connections between the art form and knowledge production. Beadwork is a popular creative practice within many First Nations cultures in North and South America. Contributing both to the regalia and identity of their nations, beadwork artists play an important role in cultural production.

Morin is a Tahltan Nation artist and researcher, currently based in Victoria, Canada. His art and performance work focuses on the development of a Tahltan Nation praxis.  

This workshop is part of an ongoing programme of events leading up to the EcoCentrix: Indigenous Arts, Sustainable Acts exhibition in October and November 2013 in the Bargehouse at Oxo Tower Wharf. Participation is free but places are limited.
