Hampstead at Halloween. Celebrity ghost-writer Max Villiers and his wife Harriet, a talented shopper, host an impromptu party. Failed Carthusian monk Eddie is on top form, his date Jacklyn – a loner dabbling in New Age ideas – equally keen to enthuse, while Imogen and her straight-laced husband will keep the party clean. But as Max connects his plasma TV, the evening is hijacked by interference from the past which sends the unlikely sextet hurtling inexorably towards the cocktail party from hell. Shocking, emotional and darkly humorous, this play will both entertain and move you.
