Central’s Theatre Applied Research Centre is pleased to host a roundtable of three practitioners to address questions of theatre practice in areas of conflict. The speakers will first reflect upon their own work in relation to the themes of theatre making and woundedness. Theatre making in areas of conflict, war, and social unrest is often constructed in terms of ideas of participation, agency and resolution. The vulnerabilities and wounds of the community, country, theatre maker and/or performer are less explored, particularly in respect of the type of theatre created. By way of discussion following the short presentations, this event aims to mobilise a research inquiry to address such issues.

Dijana Milošević, director, co-founded DAH Theatre in Belgrade, the first theatre laboratory in her country and has been actively involved in it through directing and devising its performances and different projects, serving also as Artistic Director.  She is the co–founder and collaborates with several international theatre networks. She runs the International Institute for Actors and Directors at DAH Theatre. Milošević also writes articles about theatre, gives lectures and workshops and tours with her company round the world.

Mojisola Adebayo is a British born Nigerian/Danish performer, playwright, director, producer, workshop facilitator and teacher. Over the past 20 years, she has worked on theatre projects across the world including Antarctica, Botswana, Brazil, Belgium, Burma, Canada, Finland, Greenland, India, Ireland, Malawi, Mauritius, Norway, Palestine, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Syria, the USA and Zimbabwe. She has acted in over 40 theatre, television and radio productions, devised and directed over 30 scripts for stage and video and has led countless workshops and training courses. Her wide and diverse work has ranged from being an actor with the Royal Shakespeare Company to co-founding VIDYA, a slum dweller’s theatre company in Ahmedabad, India.

Riham Isaac is an actress and a drama trainer.  She holds a bachelor degree in Physiotherapy from the Arab American Univeristy in Jenin. Her passion for theatre has changed her career and led her to discover her potential as a creative actress. She has worked with different theatre groups in Palestine and internationally including Alharah Theater, Ashtar theater (Palestine), Bread&Puppet (USA), the National Theatre of Scotland and Irish Modern Dance Theatre. Her latest achievement is a three minute dance film, which she directed named On the Heel Side that made it to Toronto Palestinian film festival. This film was her first endeavour in the film making field.
