7th February, 2014 / 11.00am - 4.00pm
2nd November, 2012
Co-hosted by the Institute of Musical Research and Guildhall School of Music & Drama, this one day event explores and celebrates the extraordinary achievements of one of Britain’s most inspirational musicians.
Academics, composers and performers offer their perspective on Knussen’s music and his career as composer, conductor and teacher. This is an invaluable opportunity to place the music of Oliver Knussen in a wide and imaginative context before hearing repertoire performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Guildhall students on Sunday 4 November at the Barbican. Speakers include Julian Anderson, George Benjamin, Arnold Whittall and Edward Venn.
