Camberwell Space is proud to introduce artist and performer Le Fil with his debut solo exhibition ‘Pop Sculpture: The Filosophy of Making’.

‘Pop Sculpture: The Filosophy of Making’ is a multi-disciplinary exhibition that places pop music into the gallery, presenting Le Fil’s personal approaches to making art – from his renowned clay sculptures and performances to more recently, pop songs.

Throughout his Vanguard Court studio residency, which he was awarded in 2011, Le Fil has been crafting electronic dance-pop music infused with heavy industrial beats and melodic hooks; alongside creating performance art installations; and sculpting hand-made ceramic objects in his distinctive aesthetic of monochromatic palettes and futuristic geometric forms.

The culmination of Le Fil’s residency is a new sculptural installation that draws parallels between iconography and messages found in religious practice, pop culture, and the artist’s making process. His practice is a meeting point for genres and ideas; combining sculpture, music, fashion and performance into a visionary crossover art-pop spectacle. Le Fil demonstrates fluidity of boundaries and new ways of seeing both through his own androgynous identity and through his unique mix of disciplines, using them as a platform for his transformative journey into the sculptural and sonic world of pop music.
