The theme for this year’s learning and teaching conference is the globalisation of higher education and the challenges and opportunities this presents to both staff and students.

This year’s conference aims to provide higher education staff with an opportunity to discuss the issues surrounding the globalisation of higher education, celebrate successes, learn from each other, and critically evaluate their own practice. It is a forum for staff to showcase their achievements and enthuse us all to enhance the student experience, and break down barriers to learning in a global context.

Speakers: Our first keynote is Professor Chris Shiel, Director of the Centre for Global Perspectives at Bournemouth University. Her keynote will challenge us to consider how we prepare our graduates to be global citizens.

Our second keynote is Dr David Law, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students and External), at Edge Hill University in the hinterland of Liverpool. Leading on the development and implementation of the University’s internationalisation strategy will be the focus of his keynote.

Workshops: There will also be workshops on a variety of global themes. These are mainly presented by Middlesex University staff. Three of the breakout workshops will be presented by external leaders in the global and international education field.
