Mixed Bill

Choreography by Hubert Essakow, Martin Nachbar and Shang Chi Sun

In 1982, dance artist Bonnie Bird put together the first Transitions Dance Company. It was the first course of its type in the UK to bridge the gap between studying and professional life.

These dancers have gone on to successful careers with companies such as: Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Akram Khan Company, Siobhan Davies Dance Company, Rambert Dance Company, Random Dance Company and Michael Clark Company.

30 years, 250 students, and countless guest choreographers later, the latest incarnation of Transitions Dance Company complete their 2012 tour with a return to Laban Theatre, Creekside, performing a mixed bill. We would love to welcome you to join us on this special occasion as we celebrate with 3 evenings of groundbreaking performance and a video archive at our bar, curated by the Laban Archive, exploring Transitions’ history.
