By Owen McCafferty
Director: Max Key

Performed by BA (Hons) Acting students

The play takes place over the course of a hot summer’s day in an imagined area of present-day Belfast. We see a day in the life of over twenty inhabitants of the district as

their stories interweave and collide, ranging from yobbish teenagers to kind old folk, from abattoir workers to drug dealers. In a tour de force of dramatic writing, a whole world is evoked in a couple of hours.

Born in Belfast in 1961, Owen McCafferty has been viewed as one of the most distinctive writers currently emerging from theatre in Northern Ireland. Combining a marked interest in experimentation in theatrical form and language with strong Belfast roots, McCafferty’s works are typically both idiosyncratic and humane, offering a wise and compassionate view of the state of the human heart.
